One dead, six injured in overnight shooting in Minnesota restaurant parking lot

A man was killed and six other people were injured when an unknown gunman opened fire in the parking lot of a restaurant in Minnesota early Sunday morning.

Officers from the Spring Lake Police Department and Anoka County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting just after midnight at the Dala Thai Restaurant and Banquet Hall in Spring Lake Park, Minn., according to the sheriff’s office.

One victim, a 19-year-old man from St. Paul, was found dead at the scene. He has not been publicly identified.

The other victims were taken to various local hospitals. Their conditions have not been released.

Online advertisements were promoting Bigg Monster’s Ugly Sweater Party, an 18-plus ages event, at the Dala Thai Event Center, but it’s unclear if the shooting is related to the event.

Commander Wayne Heath said no suspects are in custody yet but “there is no ongoing danger to the public.”
