Maine duck owner posts singles ad for his pet bird, successfully sets up date

This bird is looking for a lovebird.

A Maine teacher made a singles ad for his pet duck after her mate was stolen by a bobcat this fall ― and the quacker successfully landed a date when another owner saw the posting, according to the Bangor Daily News. The romantic rendezvous for one Ms. Yellow Duck is set for Sunday.

“Duck seeking duck,” said the ad, slapped on the bulletin board at the grocery co-op in Blue Hill by Chris Morris, 31. “Lonesome runner duck seeks companion. Partner recently deceased. Serious replies only.”

Another duck caretaker, 32-year-old Sadie Greene, spotted the plea and offered up a bird from her farm, the Bangor Daily News reported.

As with any human date, Morris said it’s tough to say how the meetup will go.

“It is possible they might attack each other. We don’t know,” Morris told the Bangor Daily News. “I think we have to provide a private, romantic space for them, something they can share.”
