At least one person was shot Friday during an active shooter situation inside Dart Container Corporation, a food processing plant in Northern Georgia, police said.

Shots were fired around 7 a.m. at the Conyers facility, located about 25 miles east of downtown Atlanta, WSB-TV reported.

Rockdale County Sheriff’s officers confirmed they were still searching for the suspect hours after gunfire first rang through the Dart Container plant, which manufactures food-service products including cups, plates, containers, lids and straws.

At least three schools and the county school transportation offices were on lockdown amid the police response, Rockdale County Schools said on Twitter.

“All of our students are safe,” the tweet reads. “No visitors are allowed on campus at this time.”

By late Friday morning, the parking lot near the Dart plant was overwhelmed with emergency vehicles and first reponders.

Police said paramedics are on standby.
