A whopping 96 alleged MS-13 gang members and associates have been indicted on murder, gang and drug trafficking charges on Long Island — the largest takedown of the criminal group in New York history, authorities said Friday.
The two-year investigation by various law enforcement agencies succeeded in thwarting seven murder plots, Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini said.
45 alleged members and 19 associates were charged with murder conspiracy, drug trafficking, gun possession and gang violence charges.
Officials were expected to provide more details on the investigation Friday afternoon.
In March, six alleged MS-13 members were indicted for conspiracy to commit two murders, authorities said.
